Dolly System and Working Space

STARTING POINT

During the semester, an interdisciplinary and collaborative video film project will be developed and realized together with the students of the Silpakorn University Bangkok. The video film project will be defined by a predetermined movement of a digital video camera  on a dolly system.

The track system will be made available for every student to develop and create an individual contribution to the collective video film. The appliance of various media, stagings and stage settings for/ in front of the camera are imaginable. The central focus lies on experimentation. The development process of the individual contributions are solely subject to the conditions dictated by the camera optics and track system.

In addition to the learning of various applications in the field of film and video, one main course objective is the constructive discourse of the individual contributions. The collaborative project thrives on the individual parts of the project. Therefore, the individual idea and its realization but also the collaborative project will be in the focus of our examination.

Each student will learn to develop an individual concept and realize it with adequate media. We will accompany each seminar participant starting with the search for ideas to its realization. Problems during implementation will be discussed with the group and collective solutions will be sought.

Collaboration and the opportunity to learn from fellow students will be encouraged. Within the course framework the seminar participants are absolutely free to experiment and apply audio-visual techniques and skills they have learned in other courses and further these techniques in relation to the new medium video.

Completion of the project will result in a public screening of the video film or an exhibition in Bangkok.
